FTP-based training levels
The power guidance is informed by the classic FTP-based levels developed by Dr Andrew Coggan, which organise training intensity relative to threshold power.

Inside Edge Ride combines power, heart rate, body weight and perceived effort to explain both the work a rider performs and the body’s response.
The Inside Edge approach
The app turns a rider’s FTP, body weight and lactate-threshold heart rate into personalised power, W/kg and heart-rate ranges. It then connects those ranges to effort descriptions, training purpose, practical tools and structured workouts.
Established influences
Inside Edge Ride uses its own combined model, terminology, explanations and visual design while drawing on established cycling-training practice.
The power guidance is informed by the classic FTP-based levels developed by Dr Andrew Coggan, which organise training intensity relative to threshold power.
Read the published Coggan overview →Sweet Spot is presented as a distinct training range between Tempo and Threshold. The app uses the commonly applied range of approximately 88–94% of FTP.
Read TrainerRoad’s explanation →Lactate-threshold heart rate provides a complementary view of training intensity. Heart rate responds more slowly than power and can also be affected by heat, hydration, fatigue, stress and recovery.
Guidance, not a laboratory
FTP, LTHR, training zones, energy expenditure and workout-load values are practical estimates. Individual physiology varies, particularly during short efforts above threshold, and the boundaries between intensity domains are not absolute.
Use the app alongside personal experience, appropriate recovery and advice from a qualified coach or healthcare professional where needed. Stop exercising and seek appropriate help if you feel unwell or experience unusual symptoms.
